Graduated in Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and active on the Italian art scene for more than fifteen years, Bankeri has participated in various exhibitions – collective and personal – in galleries and museums, artist residences and multidisciplinary projects.
Over the years, his work has gone through different techniques and supports: walls, canvases, photographic prints or installations, always starting from the drawing – and the sign – Bankeri breaks down, reassembles and “connects” everyday finds (newspapers , magazines or billboards) to fragments of a primordial collective imagination (classical sculpture and animal anatomy) that generate parallel and shared dream worlds: a pop archeology in which the actuality becomes classic and the present moves on the parallel of a timeless world in which beasts, hot air balloons and celestial vaults alternate with a personal yet constantly evolving interpretation of the most intimate portraiture. The result is a gallery of works in which seriality acts as a small counterpoint to unique works that force the limits of space and technique into a perfect balance of addition by subtraction.
